We invite submissions for the 43rd Annual Meeting of the Southern Anthropological Society in historic Staunton, Virginia, March 13-16, 2008.
The theme of the 2008 meeting is "Memory and Museums." Keynote speakers will be Richard Handler, Department of Anthropology, University of Virginia; and Eric Gable, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, University of Mary Washington.
We welcome papers and sessions in the four fields of anthropology discussing personal memories, collective memories, and collections to help us remember and to characterise life in the South, especially now, when Jamestown is celebrating the 400th anniversary of its founding. As always, we also welcome papers and organised sessions on any subject in anthropology and allied fields. Individually-volunteered papers will be incorporated into thematic sessions for which the program organizer will provide an abstract.
