2008 Annual Meeting: Hotel and Travel Options to Staunton, Virginia
Conference Hotel:

Room rates are $89 (plus taxes) for a King or 2 Queens. The deadline for the conference rates at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel and Conference Center is Feb. 13th. Airports: There are two airports that service Staunton:
The closest airport is Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport, about 12 miles from Staunton. However, there are only shuttle flights from Washington D.C., twice a day. So to get there, you will have to fly through Washington.
Otherwise the closest airport is Charlottesville, which is 38 miles from Staunton. Most people fly to Charlottesville, and drive to Staunton.
The Roanoke Regional Airport is about and hour and a half away by car (84 miles).
It is best to compare prices, schedules and airlines. Sometimes it is economically feasible to fly to Staunton if schedules work out.

Also, there are several cab companies who would vie for our service. A cab to Staunton would be $100-$120 dollars, but if you negotiate, and take 4 persons per cab, it can be $25 per person, one way.
Trains:
From Charlottesville there is also an Amtrak train that goes through Staunton once a day (from the north, NYC, and a return in the opposite direction from the west and on to D.C. The schedule back and forth through Charlottesville is as follows:
- leave Charlottesville 1:55 pm ---> arrive Staunton 2:57pm
- leave Staunton 1:31 pm---> arrive Charlottesville 2:47 pm
Driving
